Camping Shower

If you are like most people, after you are out in the woods for a couple of days you are going to be itching for a nice hot shower.  The grime starts to build up and maybe you will splash some water on your face or under your arms and it helps a bit.  If you are bold, you will jump into an often times cold lake or kneel down into a stream or river.  These are all possible solutions but none of them are very appealing after a couple of rounds of ice cold water.  And you will still be seeking to get into a real shower.

Sometimes you will come across a public facility but they are generally not the most pleasant experiences either because of the conditions or because they are short on hot water.

So what are you to do if you want a nice hot shower?  Well you have a few options available to you depending on how intent you are on feeling refreshed.  You can find anything from a bag of water hanging from a tree to a truly portable showering facility.  Obviously filling a bag or can with some water would be the easiest and least costly option but also the least comfortable.  You basically hang a bag or can of water from a nice tree and you have your shower.

If that doesn’t sound so appealing to you, there are options of a similar type but that offer the ability to heat the water from the warmth of the sun.  This will provide a bit more comfort.  But if you really want to have a decent shower experience, you will probably want to opt for a camping shower.  These often provide hot water which is heated by a propane tank and can pump enough water for a 5-10 minute shower.  If you are concerned about privacy, you should opt for a shower shelter.  If you are traveling with a group this will probably be a necessary addition.  When you combine a heating system with a bit of privacy, your camping shower will feel a bit more like what you are used to at home.

Some campers believe that they can get by without a shower but even if it’s just for a few days, often times the biggest thrill for someone when they return home is to jump into a hot shower.  While it may add to the camping experience, you may be able to extend your trip and enjoy it more with a shower system.  Often times they will not add much weight to your pack but will greatly increase your comfort level.

If you are undecided as to whether you really need to bring one along, you have to know whether or not this type of discomfort will affect your attitude on your trip.  Sometimes a nice hot shower can lift even the most unhappy camper.  If a hot shower gets you back on your feet on a regular day, then it will be all the more valuable on a camping trip.
