Camping Lights
When you don’t have the fire going, a camping light can be a very valuable piece of equipment. We often take light for granted, as in our homes it just takes a flick of a switch, but in the middle of the woods, electricity is not plentiful. So a good camping flashlight or camping lantern is virtually a necessity.
There are three main options to choose from when it comes to deciding on the right camping light or camping lantern. You can decide between battery powered, gas fueled, or liquid operated camping lights. We will discuss each of these options to help you make a better decision.
Battery Operated Camping Light
When we think of a battery operated camping lite, the most obvious choice is the handheld camping flashlight. Often the most portable and easy to use, even if you decide to go with one of the other options it is always a good idea to keep a camping flashlight on your belt or a small one in your pocket because you never know when you might need it. Often times they are pretty cheap but for a good one you may have to splurge a bit. Another option in the battery operated department is a camping lantern. As opposed to camping flashlights, camping lanterns spread light in all directions making it much more practical when sitting inside a tent or anywhere in your campsite. They are safe and portable and provide a good deal of light. Battery-powered camping lanterns can also be used to guide you along the trails without having to be overly concerned about safety since no gas or fluid is involved.
Gas Fueled Camping Lights
Gas camping lanterns are often lightweight and portable. The flame is enclosed and is thus shielded from the elements. Rain and wind will often not be a problem. Outdoor enthusiasts as well as average people have made use of this type of light for approximately a century. When treated properly, gas camping lanterns offer bright light for hours and are relatively safe. These also provide more of a traditional feel than the battery operated camping lite options as they more closely resemble images that you might conjure up in your mind of hikers and campers in the past.
Liquid Fueled Camping Lights
Liquid fueled camping lanterns offer the same type of bright light that you will find when you are using the gas fueled counterparts but economically they are much more efficient. If you are an avid camper and cost is more critical than convenience, you will probably want to choose one of the liquid fueled options over the gas fueled counterparts.
You don’t necessarily have to limit yourself to just one of these options. You might want to select a battery-powered camping flashlight to keep in your pocket and a liquid fueled lantern to have around the campsite. This way you will manage your costs more effectively and maintain the convenience of a light when you need it and where you need it by always having a battery powered flashlight in your pocket. Don’t underestimate the importance of a solid camping lantern when packing your bags.
